Security Innovation Matters

This one-day event brings together security researchers, practitioners and policymakers to explore human-centred methods, tools, and processes that can strengthen EU security R&I and empower researchers and system developers to drive meaningful impact across Europe.

We are delighted to confirm that Nicolas Bessot, Head of Innovation and Security Research at the European Commission, will deliver the Opening Keynote, with additional keynote speakers including Nehro Azeri and Magnus Sjöberg from the Europol Innovation Lab. The symposium will also preview the proposed E2i Toolbox, presenting its human-centred R&I process, supporting tools and integration within the European Security Research & Innovation Ecosystem.

The symposium will be held at Le Bouche à Oreille, a unique venue near Parc du Cinquantenaire in the heart of Brussels. Once a convent, Le Bouche à Oreille has been transformed into a distinctive space for cultural events and modern conferences — an ideal setting for a day of energising exchanges focused on advancing innovative solutions and empowering meaningful, real-world impact. Explore the venue at www.bao.be.

In addition, the event will include an exhibition of the innovative, human-centred design concepts of the eight finalists of our first E2i Student Design Challenge — with the winning and runner-up entries to be announced live at the Symposium.
