Engage2innovate Symposium 2: Security Innovation Matters

The Engage2innovate symposium in Brussels brought together some of Europe’s brightest minds to discuss the future of security innovation. With a focus on human-centred design, the event showcased how security solutions can be made more accessible, impactful, and sustainable.
A major highlight was the E2i Toolbox Preview. This exciting new tool is designed to help security projects better integrate human-centered design, making sure that solutions are not only innovative but also tailored to the real-world needs of users. The toolbox will be a game-changer for future EU security initiatives, providing practical resources to enhance project outcomes.
The symposium also featured the highly anticipated Student Design Challenge, where young innovators presented their creative solutions to pressing security challenges. These students brought fresh perspectives and bold ideas that demonstrated the power of design thinking in the security sector. Tene Ariel, from Jerusalem Multidisciplinary College, took home the top prize for their innovative approach, with the project LUNA, a wearable system which intends to strengthen women’s safety.
In addition to these inspiring moments, the event included a panel discussion on delivering security innovation and its challenges. Experts shared their insights on how security solutions must evolve to stay ahead of emerging challenges, ensuring that research and innovation remain relevant and impactful in the long run.
Beyond the presentations and discussions, the symposium was also a hub for networking and collaboration. It brought together researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers, fostering valuable connections that will drive the next wave of security innovation.
